The Dreamer

 

I don't usually do this, but this hostel is unique in it's location as well as its excellent management and the purpose it seems to serve for a number of the visitors there, including families from the world over. The Dreamer, very sercure, a one-stop-shop, is one of the best run and largest hostels I have ever seen. In addition, they manage to maintain a great atmosphere for any age group. Organized parties and games until midnight, and then the place would go instantly dark and quiet. You can buy almost anything you need, have excellent laundry service, a restaurant on site, and excellent breakfast buffet included. There is a kitchen available for those who want to cook their own food, media center, and definitely a tour desk. They will organize tours to the nearby beaches and the Tayrona National Park. No wonder there are people who spend their whole vacation here. There's diving and boating, hiking, and all manner of activities they can participate in.

 

It was a four hour uneventfult bus ride to Santa Marta. Door to door type, and even though Santa Marta is the first Spanish city on the continent, I have no pictures. I thought that we were closer to it, or that I would go there, but I just never did. Much of the landscape looked like this, since we were driving from one harbor town to another.

 

I think with any type of Inca style headdress and period-clothing on this guy, and time would stand still.
There were infrequent stops and a few small villages along the way.

You can see why this is a place to vacation for young working people from Europe. This group is from England.

 

I can't imagine a better base camp for visiting the nearby Tayrona National Beach Park or the National Park

And, yes, the cat arrived earlier with minimum luggage but opted for no room. He's here just on vacation and asks not to be disturbed.
